Misc. Notes
David Haworth was English Decent. He and his wife Ann Cox Haworth came from Tennessee to Randolph County, Indiana soon after it was made a state in 1816. they bought land and built a home. He was a fine carpenter by trade, but like all other settlers there first buildings were of logs. then after some years he built a saw and grist mill on White River, that ran through his land, so that all the lumber that was used for his frame buildings came from his own mill.He built the first frame building in Winchester, a town less than a half mile from his place. He also taught school through the winter months in his neaborhood,so that all his children received most of there schooling from their father. His wife had her loom as so many families had. She and her daughters wove all the cloth used in the family's clothing. Now in 1930 the old 'Haworth" home is still in the family. His son's daughter ,Luella Haworth Benson husband own it. David Haworth lived to be 78 and his wife Ann Cox Haworth lived to be 90. All there children were born in Randolph County, Indiana.
These stories of the Scott families were prepared by ADALINE SCOTT KERR and her daughters in 1930. I recopy them here as she wrote them. I wish they had more dates and specific facts in the stories.
